Barba Nell McCampbell, 80, of Bristol, Tennessee passed away February 9, 2019, with her family at her side. She was born to the late Naomi Irene and James Thomas Gaines on September 2, 1938 in Carlsbad, NM. Barba's family moved to San Diego, California when she was a girl and she graduated from Grossmont High School in 1956. She went on to attend Abilene Christian University and San Diego State University.

She married the late Jerry Don McCampbell in 1959 and resided in Roswell, NM for most of their fifty years of marriage. Barba is survived by three children: Jim McCampbell of Artesia, NM, Eric (Theresa) McCampbell of Spring, Tx,and Laura (Jim) Maxwell of Bristopl, TN. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jubal McCampbell of Artesia, NM, Shawnee McCampbell and Ian Watts of Los Cruces, NM, Andrea (Josh) Milligan and Jordan McCampbell of San Marcos, Tx, Joshua (Kayla) Vitt of Denton NC and Gabriel (Hannah) Vitt of Asheville, NC. Barba was predeceased by her loving husband in 2009.

Barba embraced motherhood and was immensely proud of her family. She was a loving example of strength and kindness to all who knew her. She was appositive spirit and used humor to maintain perspective on life's ups and downs. She had quite the sassy sense of humor that took others by surprise and made us laugh every day. She was also an accomplished  career woman and served as the Human Resource Director for Pioneer Bank for over 25 years. She loved this job and all she did there.

Graveside services wiil be held on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at 1 PM at Terrace Cemetery in Post, Tx. The family asks donations be made to Roswell Humane Society in Roswell, Nm, where she adopted her beloved dog, Sachi.
