Cynthia
Wallace
September 30, 2023
The bright light that was once thelife of Cindy Wallace is now gone.
Growing fainter the past few years, that energy source faded from our view on September 30, 2023 in San Antonio, Texas.
She was born in Oklahoma. Her family moved to LaPorte, Texas before she was a teenager.
They endured Hurricane Carla, huddled-in their home not far from Trinity Bay.
She made most all of her clothing during her school years and she became a good cook at an early age. Cindy's writing skills surfaced early as she wrote school news for the local newspaper.
Her first marriage brought her to San Antonio. In 1982 she began what became a 35 year career at Southwest Research Institute, where her creative communication skills flourished. Using SwRI education benefits, she graduated from UISA in 1995 and earned her Master of Fine Arts Degree from UIW in 1997.
Cindy's happiest times were sharing stories and laughter with family and friends.
Her good times also included occasional time at casino slot machines, creating holiday or whimsical decorations, exploring thrift stores or garage sales for incredible bargains.
Our friend found great peace taking an afternoon nap with a cat or two on her lap.
In 1989 her church family after divorce led her to join other friends enjoying country-western dance lessons Tuesday nights at the Texas Star Inn on Bandera Road.
It was good activity after knee surgery, but some lessons dwindled due to not enough men attending the classes. Her friend Alana invited another SwI employee to give the classes a try. Cindy had met Johnny Wallace before, but thought he was a geek Three months later Cindy and Johnny were engaged.
Six months later they married.
Thirty three years later she appreciated his steadfast support during the life altering stages of diabetes, dialysis and congestive heart failure
Cindy was preceded in death by parents Bill and Ethel Lewis and sister Marcia.
