Cindy Sue Guthrie passed away surrounded by loved ones on the afternoon of January 6, 2024, at the age of 66. Danny Nelson Guthrie passed peacefully in his sleep at their home in Dickens, TX, in the early morning of January 7, 2024, a mere 12 hours after the love of his life. In death, as in life, they went together, having not spent a day of their 45 years of marriage apart. Together, they raised three sons, Vance Guthrie (Maggie) of Gail, TX, Derek Guthrie (Angela) of Edmond, OK, and Brant Guthrie of Post, TX. They are preceded in death by their son, Clay Allen Guthrie, and will be laid to rest beside him in Terrace Cemetery in Post, TX on January 11, 2024. They were also preceded in death by Cindy's parents, Bud and Joyce Anderson, Cindy's brothers, Danny Anderson and Shane Anderson, and Danny's father, Wesley Guthrie.

Cindy was born to Bud and Joyce (Turner) Anderson in Tucumcari, NM, on December 24,1957. She graduated from Crosbyton High School in 1975. Danny was born to Wesley and Joann (Johnston) Guthrie in Crosbyton, TX, on October 31,1957. He attended Post High School and was a member of the Class of 1975.

Cindy and Danny met in Post and married on November 18, 1978, and then entered the workforce sharing many challenges and endeavors, eventually attending nursing school together; both graduating with honors from Odessa College. Their careers in nursing were spent together in West Texas and the Permian Basin.

Danny and Cindy are survived by their sons and their wives and nine grandchildren, Madison Guthrie of Canyon, Koda and Brynne Bigham, Kersten and Landry Guthrie of Gail, Christopher and Lily Guthrie of Edmond, OK, and Halle and Bowen Guthrie of Post; Cindy's sister Kathy Kirkland (Johnny) of Post; Cindy's brother Billy Anderson (Kelli) of Crosbyton; Danny's sister Terri Laurence of Post; and Danny's mother Joann Robison of Post; their beloved dog, Jake, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 6-7pm at Hudman Funeral Home in Post; graveside services will be on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 11:00 am at Terrace Cemetery in Post.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House, your local animal rescue facility or your favorite charity.
