Gerald "Jerry"
H. Conoly
March 13, 1934 – March 26, 2023
Gerald H (Jerry) Conoly, was born March 13, 1934 to Annie Elizabeth and Edward Conoly. Being the youngest of eight children. He was just 3 years old when his mother passed away and he was raised by his oldest sister Dorothy.
Jerry left this Earth after completing his journey at the age of 88 on March 26, 2023. Graveside services were held Wednesday, March 29 at Terrace Cemetery.
Upon graduating from Jesuit High School in Dallas Texas Jerry moved to Van Horn to help his two brothers Don and John farm cotton. It wasn't too long after that Jerry had his own cotton farm in the Wild Horse Creek area of Van Horn. Farming cotton was very hard back in those days and after several years Jerry decided to move his little family to Post Texas where he began working at the Postex Cotton Mill. He worked at the mill for several years before starting his own business with Conoly's Heating and Air Conditioning. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed going up into the Davis Mountains. and packing out a deer with his Jack or his Jenny in Van Horn and he never missed an opportunity to be able to get out on the lake and go fishing after moving to Post. However, anyone who knew Jerry, knew his most favorite pastime was shooting pool. He loved the game and loved the challenge of the game.
Jerry will always be remembered as being a helping hand, with a friendly smile.
Jerry is survived by four children: Pamela Kennedy of Post, David and his wife Joy of Lubbock, Cindy Pruitt of Lubbock, and James Martin and his wife Cheryl of San Antonio. He is also survived by stepchildren: Cherri (Steve) Simpson, Debbie Ford , Larry F. Cummings and J.O. (Cheryl) Cummings. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. One sister Dorothy Wagner from Dallas Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Ann Elizabeth, one daughter Sandra Elizabeth, his wife of 16 years Maxine Cummings. 4 sisters, Mimi, Barbara, Jean, and Margaret. 2 brothers, John and Don.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Trail Blazers of Post.
The family would like to give thanks to all of the employees at Post Care Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center for their love and kindness to our dad which made his stay easier and more enjoyable. Your love and care were unmatched by any others.
