Ginger Phillips, 83, of Post, quietly passed away on December 21, 2017 in Lubbock, Texas. She was born March 21, 1934 at Roby, Texas to Gorden and Verma (Weemes) Carey, the third of ten children.
The Carey kids grew up at Close City and attended Ragtown and Post schools, where Ginger loved playing basketball. She married Bennie Wilks in 1951 and they raised their two sons while farming and ranching in the Grassbur community. She married Glenn Phillips in 1974. She worked for Postex Cotton Mills and as a legal secretary for many years as well as helping Glenn in his business. She was a menber of First Baptist Church of Post.
Ginger was preceded in death by her husband Glenn; her parents; sisters Dot, Claugine, Marian and Mary; brothers Gorden, Joel, Jim Bob and John D.; and a great grandson, Rod Wilks.
She is survived by two sons, Kim Wilks and wife Patsy of Post and Keith Wilks and wife Velma of Slaton; one stepdaughter, Sharon Burtis and husband Ron of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two stepsons, Don Phillips of Lubbock and Larry Phillips and wife Sheri of Seagraves; one sister, Ann Long of Garland; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 27, at the First Baptist Church in Post with Robert Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Terrace Cemetery.
