Grady Glenn Norman, age 98, went to be with his Lord and reunite with his bride, Mary Margaret Norman, on June 19, 2023. He was born on March 7, 1925 in Grassland Texas. Graveside services will be at 10:00am on Thursday June 22, 2023 at the Grassland Cemetery with a memorial service held at the First Baptist Church in Post at 1:00pm that day. Services are under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home. A visitation will be held 5:30 to 6:30 P.M. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the funeral home.
Psalms 15 epitomizes Glenn's life and character.
They were married January 1, 1949 and for over 70 years they both loved and faithfully served the Lord Jesus.
He was the eleventh child of John Wesley and Nannie Belle Norman of Grassland.
Glenn attended Grassland school, Graham school and the Post school and graduated in 1942. He walked 2 miles to the Grassland school in his early school years. He loved playing baseball and football.
Glenn served in the U.S. Navy as a machinist mate during WWII. After returning from serving his country he began farming land his dad had purchased from C.W. Post in 1916 and he was still actively engaged in farming this land until his death. He drove his first tractor when he was 14 which replaced their mule team.
He and his brother, Auvie Lee Norman, began Grassland Butane in 1952 and served the Grassland community for over 60 years.
Glenn was ordained as a deacon in the First Baptist Church on June 10, 1956 and served for 66 years.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Post for 73 years. He served as a bank director for the First National Bank for many years. In 1998, he was named an Alumni by Choice of Baylor University.
Glenn was predeceased by his parents John and Nannie Belle, seven brothers, three sisters, his wife Mary Margaret and his son-in-law Kevin Wright.
He is survived by Judge Lee Norman (Marsha) of Post, Nancy (Billy Max) Gordon of Post, Bobby (Kim) Norman of Lubbock and Mary Ann Wright of Post.
His grandchildren are Laura May (Matthew) of Atlanta, Georgia, Janie Stach (Philip) of Grapevine, Texas, David Norman (Brenda) of Post, Steve Norman (Mary) of Lubbock, Doug Flanigan of Post, Maggie Guthrie (Vance) of Gail, Nicholas Flanigan (Kristol) of Waco, Abby Louder (Jantzen) of Lubbock, Benjamin Norman (Beverly) of Lewisville, Reese Seigler of Plano, Ross Norman (Emily) of Plano, Hunter Seigler (Cricket) of Odessa, Jennifer Lee (David) of Lewisville, Nathan Norman of Austin, Glyn McKay (Richard) of Arlington, Sydney Wright of Austin, Jordan Wright of Post and Averey Wright of Arlington.
Great-grandchildren are Tipton and Ivy May, Simon and Elliot Stach, Emily, Marley and Paylan Norman, Brock, Violet and Wren Norman, Haddie and Datch Flanigan, Koda and Brynne Bigham, Maddie, Kersten and Landry Guthrie, Grady and Kalyn Flanigan, Maci, Titus and Tenley Louder, Charlotte Norman, Will, Caleb and Hannah Norman, Caden, Chloe and Kaylee Seigler, Fletcher, Isaac and Anna Margaret McKay and Camryn Clements.
The pallbearers will be Glenn's grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Delbert Rudd, Wendell Johnson, Darrell Reece, Jeff Williams, Wayne Bell, Don Payne, David Nichols, Gordon Terry, Johnny Kemp and Ronald Thuett.
Pastors Steve McMeans, Jantzen Louder and Richard McKay will officiate the memorial service at the First Baptist Church. Pastor Keith Garner of the First Baptist Church of Post will conduct the graveside service at Grassland.
