Gwen Rae (named after her father) left this earth on March 27 in Lubbock, Texas. Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Terrace Cemetery. Interment will follow under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home. Her life began on August 31, 1938 in Post, Texas with her parents Ray and Annie Hodges. She grew up and attended school in Post. The family lived on a farm where they spent time fishing in the tank, riding horses, and working very hard to grow cotton and raise cattle. She married Jerry Odom in 1954 and they had three children: Vicki, Ann, and Joey. They moved several times but spent the majority of their life in Midland, Texas. Gwen had several occupations from a hair stylist to a substitute teacher. One of her proudest accomplishments was graduating from Midland College with an associate degree. She enjoyed spending time at her home in Ruidoso, New Mexico and thrift shopping. She continuously brought home bargains she could not pass up. She moved to Lubbock in 2013. Her companions in her last years were her two cats that loved to cuddle and sleep with her up until her final days. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents and two grandsons, Damion Ellis and Tim Pinkerton. She is survived by Vicki Pinkerton (Danny) of Cleburne, Texas; Ann Rolan (John) of Porum, Oklahoma; Joey Odom of Canadian, Texas; friend Jenny Sosa of New Deal, Texas; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
