Obituary

Harvey Jackson "Jack" Dean passed to the Lord at his home in Post on April 3, 2022 at the age of 81. Services will be held at the Graham Chapel Church of Christ in Post at 11 AM on Friday, April 8, 2022. Visitation will be on Thursday from 6 until 7:30 PM at Hudman Funeral Home.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Austin Riley Dean Sr and Hettie Olivia Childs Dean, his brother, Austin Riley Dean Jr., and his sister, Lois Evelyn Dean.

He is survived by his wife Charlotte Hubble "Lois" Dean of Post, Texas; son, Thomas Earl Dean of San Angelo, Texas; son, Sonny Ray Dean and wife Sydney of Crawford, Texas; Daughter, Sue Tidwell and husband Coty of Post, Texas; brother, Bernie Ray Dean Sr. and wife Olivia of Mathis, Texas. He is also survived by six grandchildren; Garrison Dean and wife Mayde of The Villages, Oklahoma, Maddie and husband Olin Moody of Oak Point, Texas, Whitney Dean of Lubbock, Texas, Katelyn Tidwell of Dallas, Texas, Kelby Tidwell of Abilene, Texas and Kristen Tidwell of Post, Texas.

Jack was born in Uvalde County on December 31, 1940 to Austin and Hettie Dean. He grew up in Campwood, Texas. After the death of his parents he lived some years in Corsicana, Texas before moving back to Campwood. In high school he was a mainstay on the highly successful football teams until his graduation in 1960  from Nueces Canyon High School.

He met his future wife while working as a ranch hand in Rocksprings, Texas. He married Charlotte Elois Hubble on October 28,1964. They celebrated 57 years of marriage. They had three children, Thomas Earl Dean, Sonny Ray Dean and Sue Dean Tidwell.

While working in the oilfield he moved his family to Sonora, Texas. Eventually, he and Lois decided to move the family to Eldorado, Texas where all three children graduated from Eldorado High School. Jack soon left the oilfield and became city manager in Eldorado until his retirement in 2000.

In 2019 Jack and Lois moved to Post to be closer to their grandchildren. During his life Jack was an avid fisherman, hunter and sports fan. He especially enjoyed football and wrestling. Any conversation with Jack would inevitably lead to talk of one or more of his grandchildren. They were a great source of pride to him. To the grandchildren he was affectionately called "Papa".

Jack's family wishes to express their love and gratitude for everyones prayers and thoughts during his recent hospital stay.
