James Carl Dawson, 79, passed away on November 15, 2024, in Post, Texas. Born on July 8, 1945, James was a resilient man who overcame numerous challenges from his early years, shaping him into a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
James found his calling in oil production, a field where his tenacity and diverse skills, including welding, greatly contributed to his success. He co-founded a thriving business with his wife, Joy, in Post, Texas, where they also raised a loving family and became pillars of the community.
A man of many interests, James's greatest passion was dirt track racing, a hobby he shared and cherished with his son and grandsons, creating a lasting family legacy in the sport. He also enjoyed fishing, often accompanied by his grandsons, and horse training earlier in life.
He enjoyed his visits to Justiceburg Community Church, where he found spiritual solace and community.
James is survived by his wife, Joy Dawson; sister, Altha Weir; children, Kimberly Rodriguez (Isidro), Chris Dawson (Candi), Jamie Thomas (Ted); step-daughters, Angela Molnoskey (Joel), and Lori Parker (Billy); special grandson, Dustin Robinson (Lupita); grandchildren, Erron, Victoria, Dalaney, Austin, Mackenzie, Kara, Quinton, Chelsea, Brody, Emma, MaKenna, Conner, Cooper, Hudsyn, and Piper; and 12 great-grandchildren. His faithful dog, Gypsy, was also a significant part of his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hulen and Hazel Dawson, and siblings, Bill Dawson, Wayne Dawson, Jimmy Dawson, Flora Nell Dawson, and Nellie Glover.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 19th from 6:00-7:00 PM at Hudman Funeral Home. Services will continue on Wednesday, November 20th at 2:00 PM at Justiceburg Community Church, followed by a private burial.
James's unwavering spirit and dedication to his family and community will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. Out of all his wins and successes his favorite by far was the family that he built.
