Obituary

Services for Lola Joy Dickson, 95, of Post will be at 2 PM Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Koreen Guillermo officiating. Burial will be in Terrace Cemetery under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home.

Joy was born on May 20, 1926 in Idalou to Ephraim Blackburn Petty and Lillian (Slater) Petty. Joy left the farm at eighteen and moved briefly to Washington, D. C. to work for the Department of Defense. After moving back to Graham, she married Robert Dickson on March 16, 1947. After chasing new opportunities in the oilfield in Kansas, Texas and New Mexico, she and family moved to Post to pursue a new business venture in 1967. She cared for the family and kept the books, answered the phone, and did all the invoicing and correspondence. Later on, she worked for Garza County Tax Collector/Assessor office. She used her knowledge in her church by accounting for and depositing donations for many decades.

Joy was a long time member of Post Amity Club. She loved her church, saying it has good people. She loved her Fidelity Sunday school class, and she also loved Post, Texas. She didn't count what it doesn't have. She would just say "Post has been good to us." Joy loved her family and wasn't afraid to be the one to give direction. Lastly, remembering her activities, she loved playing bridge with her dear friends. She was also in a bowling league years ago
