Obituary

Kenneth Stanley, of Post, died peacefully on February 21, 2021 at the age of 68.

Kenneth was born August 2, 1952, the second of four children to J. R. "Cotton" Stanley and Betty Perkins Stanley. He grew up in Spur, loving the small town life with lots of friends, he and his brother Dicky getting into mischief, especially on their motorcycle. He was a member of the Spur Bulldogs' Class of '70. The family moved to Snyder and Kenneth attended school there but Spur was always home for him.

Just out of high school he went to work driving a dozer for Grimmett Brothers of Snyder. He rodeoed with friends from Snyder for a few years, competing in bareback riding. After a few years, Kenneth moved to Post and went into business with his older brother Joe. They were in the dirt business before separately venturing into the trucking business, but they always worked together. He and Joe did most things together, whether it was working, varmit hunting or playing cowboy polo where he was a star player. Kenneth was a hard worker and had amazing mechanical abilities and a brilliant mind, working on things just came natural for him. He loved to take things apart to learn how they worked. He was forced to retire at the age of 47 when he suffered a stroke, his health steadily declining for the next 30 years. He was physically strong and put up a good fight.

Kenneth loved the Lord and he was baptized at the age of 27. He devotedly studied the Bible. Family was important to him and he was always ready and willing to help his mother, brothers and sister.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his dad and his two brothers, Joe Stanley and Dicky Stanley.

He is survived by his mother, Betty Stanley, his sister, Patsy Wilks and husband Kim, and his sister-in-law, Ruthell Stanley, all of Post.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 26, 2021 at Hudman Funeral Home with Bro. Keith Garner officiating. Burial will follow in Terrace Cemetery.
