Laveta Bass Norman, 91, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023 in Slaton, Texas. She was born August 9, 1931 to James and Pauline Bass in Terry County. She graduated from Wellman High School in 1948. She married Gerald V. Norman October 21, 1949, He preceded her in death August 26, 2013. They were married almost 64 years. Also preceding her in in death were her parents and two sisters: Kathryn Welcher and Mary Lou Webb. Laveta was a member of Family Harvest Church She was a homemaker and devoted to her family. She loved visiting her family and her friends. She enjoyed going to her children's, grandchildren's, and great grandchildren's ball games, church programs and other activities. As her children began leaving home she owned and operated the Prairie Flower Shop and then later Trends for Men Clothing, both in Post. After her husband died, she continued running the family farm. She is survived by their four children: Judy Norman of Lubbock, Jodi Williams (Andy), Rynn Norman, and Kim Norman (Rhonda) all of Post; eight grandchildren: Russ Moore, Randy Moore (Andi), Kelly King (Justin), Matthew Norman (Kaybren), Mark Norman, Stace Norman (fiancé Emily) , Steffi Scott (Tanner), Laci Norman (fiancé Jarrod), and seventeen great grandchildren. The graveside service will be held at Terrace Cemetery, 2:00 P.M., Sunday, January 29, 2023 with Pastor Joey Hamlin officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Hudman Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Russ Moore, Randy Moore, Justin King, Matthew Norman, Mark Norman, Stace Norman and Tanner Scott. The family would like to thank Matthew and Kaybren Norman, Teresa Ceja and the family of Agapito Flores for their long-time service, help and devotion. Also, the family would like to thank Calvert Home and Hospice and the Library of Legacies for being simply the best at their jobs. The family is very thankful to each person who played a part in Moms' care. The family would like to suggest that in lieu of flowers that memorial gifts be made to Library of Legacies, 1420 Woodrow Road, Slaton, Texas 79364.
