Mabel Rexene Welch Pennell, 87, of Argyle, TX succumbed following an injury surrounded by her family on April 2nd, 2026.

She was born on October 9th, 1938 to Rex and Mabel Welch in Post, TX. On December 28th, 1957 Rexene married Novis Pennell in New Home, Texas and they were blessed with 58 happy years together. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Judy and Larry Ballard of Argyle, Texas; son and daughter-in-law Riley and Micaela Pennell of Davidson, NC; sisters-in-law Maritta Reed of Justiceburg, TX; Linda (Ern) Riley of Shallowater, TX; and Karen Pennell of Post, TX. 'MeMaw' is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Brendan Ballard; Lauren (Tim) Tolleson; Katie (Nick) Lowe; Zoe Pennell; and Pax Pennell.  Her great grandchildren are Jack Tolleson; Evelyn Ballard; Caiden Ballard; Madison Lowe; Aurora Lowe; and Koda Lowe as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by Novis and by her parents and one sister, Dorothy Smith.
Rexene was a loving mother, wife, grandmother and friend to all. She was a member of the church of Christ.  After retiring, Novis and Rexene travelled extensively through all the continental United States and Canada.

Visitation will be from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Hudman Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 7th. Graveside services for Rexene will be at Terrace Cemetery in Post, TX on Wednesday, April 8th at 10:00 AM with Travis Sweet officiating.
