Mary Lee Wristen
She was born April 16, 1921 to Alex and Nona Kittrell in Lorenzo. She passed in the evening on June 14, 2024 at 103 years of age. Services will be Tuesday, June 18th at 11:00 am at Hudman Funeral Home in Post, Texas.
She received her Masters degree in teaching from Texas Tech spanning a career lasting 48 years in the public school system. She taught at the Graham School early in her career where she also was the girls' basketball coach. She later started teaching at the Post Independent School System where she retired from after teaching many generations of students. She loved teaching and loved her students, many of whom she was still in contact with. She moved to West, Texas in 2014 to live with her nephew James McBride and be closer to family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Wilson Kittrell, and sister's, Frotilla Gunn and Lucile McBride.
She is survived by nephew James McBride and wife Glen Ann, and nieces Annette Bernard and Jeffie Ann Rainwater. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews, many great great nieces and nephews and a great great great niece and nephew.
Auntie Mary Lee was blessed with many caring and lasting friendships from her teaching days and her life in Post. She was blessed with the best neighbors any one could ask for. The staff at West Rest Haven were a joy for her. She loved them and they loved her.
