Marvin "Monk" Palmer, 83, of Post, Tx passed away on August 11, 2020.
Monk was born on September 15, 1936 in Seymour, Tx to Tobe & Ida Belle Palmer. He moved to Post, Tx in 1951. He married LaVena Washburn on February 27, 1960. He worked for many years in the oil field. He was known around town as a "one-of-a-kind" man and was awarded citizen of the year in 1982. He began trapshooting in the early 1980's and was elected into the Texas Trapshooting Hall of Fame in 2012.
He is survived by his wife, LaVena Palmer of Post; children Deb and Gina Palmer of Post; Jody and Bart Whisenhunt of Post;brother Bob and Debbie Palmer; nephew, Wade And Cary Bridgeman of Lubbock; grandchildren, Heather and Zeke Garcia of Lubbock, Keatha and Jon Courchaine of Indiana, Josie Whisenhunt of Post, Tobe Palmer of Post, Bradley Whisenhunt of Post and Shelby Bridgeman of Lubbock; great grandchildren, Nolan and Palmer Courchaine; Bentley and Collier Garcia; Caden Whisenhunt and Kenzie and Graydon Bridgeman.
Monk was preceded in death by his parents,Tobe and Ida Bell Palmer; brothers, Roy, Otis, D.T., Johnny and Deb Palmer; two sisters, Margarett Palmer and Irene Lovern.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 10:00AM in the Post Church of Christ.
The family suggest donations to the Garza County 4-H shooting sports.
