Ellis
June 8, 1950 – March 21, 2025
Nedra Childs Ellis of Post passed away March 21st, 2025. Throughout her life Nedra maintained her sense of humor, wit and relationships with lifelong friends.
Nedra was born on June 8th 1950, to the late W.H. Childs and Lois Custer Childs in Slaton, Texas. She attended school at Close City and graduated from Post High School
In 1975 she married Jimmy Ellis of Amarillo. They had a son Tad Ellis and a daughter Mandy Ellis. Jimmy and Nedra lived in Amarillo where she was very active in her kids' lives, serving as room mother PTA president and team mom. She never missed a sporting event or school activity.
She later became known as NeNe to her 6 grandchildren, William Ellis, Abigail Sims, Ally Guerrero, TJ Ellis, Emilee Ellis and Natilee Ellis. She never slowed down and continued following their sports events and activities.
In 2008 she moved back to Post with Jimmy to care for family.
She and Jimmy were members of the Graham Chapel Methodist where she organized and taught a weekly womans bible study. She met regularly with her high school friends. She cherished many relationships with extended family, and lifelong friends.
She thoroughly enjoyed sewing and crafting. She had a booth at Trade Days for multiple years where she made dolls, crafts and beautiful items
She was a voracious reader, and true crime fanatic she often said she couldn't wait to get to heaven to find out who killed Jon Benet Ramsey.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jimmy Ellis, her children, grandchildren and two great grandchildren Maggie Guerrero and Ellis Sims. Her two sisters, Julia Childs of Post and Janet Justice of Post.
Services will be held on Monday March 24th at 11:00 at the First Baptist Church in Post with graveside services following at Grassland Cemetery. Under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Tad Ellis Jr, Brandon Sims, Refugio "Cuco" Lopez, Tommy Cole, Robbie Wilke, Joe Guerrero.
