Service includes visitation at Hudman Funeral Home in Post on
Sunday, October 2
5:00-6:30 pm and a graveside service officiated by Jimmy Valdez, Pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, will be at Post Terrace Cemetery on
Monday, October 3
at 10:00 am.
Nellie was born
May 26
, 1933 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to Paul & Ada (Bentley) Melton. Her family moved to Post in 1951 where she met David Tyler. They married
July 3
, 1953 in Meridian, Mississippi and made their home in the Verbena community east of Post.
Nellie was a homemaker and a farmer's wife which meant she did anything that needed to be done. She traveled to Washington DC in 1968 representing the Farmer's Union Ladies from Texas.
She loved to travel and went on many adventures with her sister Dean and family and grandson Jerin. She visited all 50 states. Nellie enjoyed her daily morning coffee visiting with her brother Ralph.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Ada Melton, in-laws Bruce & Vera Tyler, sister Dean Jackson, brothers Donald Melton & Ronnie Melton and great granddaughter, Brooke Brinkley.
Survivors include her husband David of Post, sons Ronnald Tyler (Roxi) of Houston, Jerry Tyler (Marinette) of Post, Mark Tyler (Darlene) of Midland; daughter Debbie Jones (Mike) of Chico; Grandchildren Misti, Jerica, Sarah, Jerin, Haley, Katie, Will & Jaycee; Great Grandchildren Addie, Paytyn, Carson & Trenton; brothers James Melton (Shelia) of Post, Kenneth Melton (Shirley) of Calera, Alabama, Jimmy Melton (Teresa) of Cleveland, Georgia; sister Eyvonne Dunham of Goodwater, Alabama; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
