Our beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Odie Alvis Hood, has gone to be with his Lord and Savior on August 16, 2023. Odie was born April 18, 1939 to Mattie and Odie Alvis Hood in Slaton, Texas. Odie graduated from Texas Technological College (now Texas Tech University) in 1961 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering where he met the love of his life and wife Joan, and they were wed on September 2, 1961.  Odie worked for Mason and Hangar where he started at the Medina Plant outside San Antonio and was transferred to the Amarillo Pantex Plant, where he worked for 27 years and rose to the position of General Manager of Engineering.

Odie was very involved with his daughters' activities including coaching softball and being an assistant leader of their Cadette troop.  He and Joan helped lead a council wide backpacking trip in 1978.  Odie enjoyed playing golf with Joan. Odie and Joan spent their retirement years building and then living in their dream house on Odie's family land near Justiceburg, Texas overlooking Lake Allen Henry.

Odie is preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan, his granddaughter Erin, and his parents. He is survived by his daughters Debbie Neufeld and her husband Jerry and Katrina Cumbest and her husband Joe. In addition, Odie is survived by younger sister Nancy Karp, his grandchildren Ryan Neufeld and his wife Sarah, Emily Bakhaya and her husband Ziad, Cydney Adams and her husband Josh, and Joseph Cumbest III (Trey) and his wife Gabby. Odie was blessed to have 3 great grandchildren, Brayden, Blakley, and Landon.
