If you were ever looking for Gram, you could check her grandkids sports/rodeo schedule and you would find her.  There was no place she'd rather be than cheering them on, except maybe working in her beautiful yard or somewhere with a fishing pole.

Orabeth was born to Quanah & Sue (Green) Maxey on July 31, 1939 at West Texas Hospital in Lubbock, Texas.  She was raised on the family farm in the Graham Community in Garza County, where as a young girl, she helped hoe, pick cotton, drive the tractor, and picking up bundles.  Orabeth graduated 8th grade in 1953 from Graham Chapel School, where she won 1st place in the broad jump at Garnolia, and was also the Valedictorian of her class.

Her high school career began at Post High School, and she played on the District Champion Volleyball Team.  During her high school years, Orabeth was crowned Post Antelope Football Queen in 1956 and Miss PHS in 1957.

Orabeth married her high school sweetheart, Noel Keith White, on September 28, 1957.  They celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Through the years, her employment included The Post Dispatch, Harry A Tubb, M.D., Graham Co-op Gin, Danish Imports, Charles McCook- DDS, as well as helping Noel in the crop insurance adjusting business.

At the age of 12, Orabeth obeyed the gospel during a church meeting at Graham Chapel Church of Christ. Orabeth was a faithful member of the Graham Chapel Church of Christ, where she taught the primary Bible class for years and the Ladies Wednesday Morning Bible Class for 17 years.  She also served as the wife of a deacon and elder of Graham Chapel.   God and family were always first in her life.

Her community involvement included:

President of Gamma Mu Sorority - 2 different terms
Secretary of the Garza Co Junior Livestock Association 1977-1987
Secretary of the Caprock Cutting Horse Association for 10 years
Secretary of the Graham Community Center Board -20 years
Organizer of PHS Class of '57 Reunions -63 years

For Orabeth, her family, friends, and extended family were very important to her.  She loved keeping in touch with all, no matter the distance.  Even in her last year of life, she could recall where many relatives/friends lived, as well as their kids and grandchildren.

Her favorite hobbies were working in her yard, fishing, and chasing grandkids to watch them in all of their activities.  In her years of being a huge sports fan, she was able to watch her grandson, Hadley, and his team win the 1A State Football Championship; her granddaughter, Haven, win 3rd place at the 1A State XC Meet, as well as 2nd place medal at the 1A State Track Meet in the 4x200 relay; her granddaughter, Harbor, play in the 1A State Semi-Final Basketball game.  She also watched many rodeos, cuttings, baseball, and softball games.

Survivors include 2 sons, Steve (& Jackie) White, of Westbrook; Sam Butler, of Post;1 daughter, Keitha Beth (& Tim) Hill, of Gail.  Seven grandchildren:  Cheyenne (& Kody) Porterfield, of Weatherford; Schelli (& Cody) Jackson of Colorado City; Avery Wright, of Newport, Kentucky; MaKaylee Butler, of Shallowater; Hadley White, of Westbrook; Haven & Harbor Hill, of Gail.

2 great-granddaughters:  Klaire Porterfield, of Weatherford, Hatleigh Golden of Shallowater and Jaylee Jackson, of Colorado City. 1 great-grandson:  Tilden Jackson, of Colorado City.

Also, a sister, Jane (& Lewis) Mason, of Post; 1 brother-in-law: Ronnie Graves, of Post; 1 sister-in-law, Sybil White of Hale Center.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Orabeth was proceeded in death by her husband, Noel White, her parents, and a sister, Diane Graves.

Graveside Service will be held Friday, May 9th at 11:00am at the Terrace Cemetery in Post, Texas under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home in Post. A celebration of Orabeth's life with friends and family will be held at the Graham Chapel Church of Christ, 1016 W 15th Street, immediately following the graveside service, lunch provided.
