Robert Dean Reiter, affectionately known as Bob by family and friends, passed away on April 23, 2021 at his home in Post, Texas at the age of 89. Bob was born August 8, 1931, the fifth of seven children to Frances Elizabeth (Hoedebeck) and Clemens Christopher Reiter. Spending his early life in Muenster, Texas, Bob married Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Dieter on August 11, 1953 in Lindsey, Texas.
Together, Bob and Betty welcomed five children, Robert, Chris, Jackie, Kenny and Cindy Reiter in Muenster, Texas before moving to Post, Texas, where Bob worked in the oil industry as a contract pumper until the age of 86.
During his lifetime, Bob was known for being a hard worker, often in the oilfield seven days a week. However, in his personal life, Bob was easy-going and exhibited a playful, teasing nature. Following retirement, Bob enjoyed reading the newspaper, watching Wheel of Fortune and taking leisure drives with his dog, Toby.
Bob leaves behind four children, Chris (Glenna) Reiter, Jackie (Cindee) Reiter, Kenny (Carla) Reiter and Cindy Reiter all of Post, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and many other beloved family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, Elizabeth Reiter, Beatrice Knabe and Mary Ann Arendt; three brothers, Clemens "Rinks" Reiter, Basil Reiter and Leon Reiter; wife, Elizabeth "Betty" Reiter; one son, Robert Reiter and one grandson, Robert "Bobby" Reiter.
Services will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2021 with Deacon Paul Murillo officiating. Burial in Terrace Cemetery will be under the direction of Hudman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Isreal Beggs, Jordan Nelson, Danny Reiter, Mike Reiter, Pat Reiter and Michael Tadlock.
