A much loved uncle, brother, farmer, and friend Robert D. Wilke (Robbie), 68 of Close City, TX (Ragtown, TX) passed away on November 26, 2025 after a brief illness. He was born August 2, 1957, to Reuben and Pauline Wilke in Slaton, TX. He was a long-time resident of Post, TX and graduated from Post High School in 1976. After High School, he started a career as a farmer with his dad and older brother. He loved farming, playing with his puppies, working on random equipment, and roping in his arena. He even won Champion Team Roping as a Header in the Garza County Novice Division. He enjoyed spending time his family and friends and teaching his nieces and nephews bad habits. He was always happy to help a neighbor when they needed anything. He spent hours helping Jacob build Ag Mechanics projects and always argued that his ways were right. His hobbies included restoring antique tractors with his brother, dragging his camper trailers to new locations, and watching hours of rodeos trying to guess the Bronc riding scores. He loved a good cookout with friends and family and will be missed by so many.
He is survived by his sister Lillie Wright, and husband Jerry, of Lubbock, TX. A niece, Jennifer Gonzalez, and husband Efrain, of Idalou. A nephew, Chris Wright, and wife Joann, of Lubbock, TX. Also 4 great nieces and nephews, Lexi Ewen, and husband Christopher, of Brownwood, TX, Jacob Gonzalez, and wife Hannah, of Brownwood, TX, and Landon and Caroline Wright, both of Lubbock, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.B. and Pauline Wilke and a brother, G.B. Wilke.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2pm on Monday, December 1st at First Baptist Church of Post, TX. Interment to follow at Terrace Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 6pm-7pm on Sunday, November 30th and Hudman Funeral Home.
