Sandra Kay
Little
June 17, 1957 – February 4, 2021
Sandra Kay Little passed away peacefully in her home on February 4, 2021 watching TV Land. She had every episode of I Love Lucy, Andy Griffin, and Little House on the Prairie memorized, but never grew tired of watching them.
Sandra was born on June 17, 1957 in Little Rock, Arkansas. She moved to Post, Texas in 1968 and graduated from Post High School in 1975.
She was every inch of five foot tall and incapable of being still. She was deaf in one ear, but her three daughters knew she could hear just fine when it suited her. "My girls", she called us. She taught us to work hard, without complaint, to be kind and generous, to stick together, and to stand up for what is right, no matter the cost. She loved us unconditionally- even through our smart-mouthed middle school years- and was always our biggest cheerleader. She worked three jobs when we were little, but we were never without. She loved kids and was everyone's Nana. She babysat half the town of Post, so our home was loud and messy, but always fun.
Her grandkids were her pride and joy. She didn't just dote on them, she got down on the floor (in the dirt, in the forts, on the trampoline) and played with them. She was a kid at heart. She never missed a game, a concert, or a birthday party. Her walls were plastered with their pictures and artwork. She spoiled all of her grandchildren rotten, and they absolutely adored her.
Sandra had a servants heart. She worked many different jobs throughout her life, including Post Heating and Air, the church, and Walmart. She loved people. Everyone she ever met was her friend. She had a way of making you feel like you were the most important person in the world. She would give the shirt off her back to help someone in need and was always there to pray with and support you.
Sandra was silly, always laughing and playing practical jokes. She loved sitting on the porch, sipping tea, and visiting. She loved going to McDonald's and piddling around the house with her Mama. Some of her favorite things were fluffy socks, flannel shirts, old hymns, Disney movies, chips and salsa, and road trips.
She was a tiny woman, but the space she filled in our lives was immeasurable. We will miss her smile, her talks, and her power hugs. She loved her Jesus. We know that she is strolling through Heaven with Him now, rejoicing and singing way off key.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father, John Dudley, and her brother, Danny Dudley. She is survived by her mother, Glenda Horard of Post; her children, Amber and John Allen of Lubbock, Mandy and Martin Villanueva of Lubbock, and Amy and Ernie Saldivar of Ropesville; her grandchildren, Katy Allen, Ethan Allen, Madison Villanueva, Ernest Saldivar,Benjamin Saldivar, and Brayden Saldivar; her brothers, Ray Dudley (and wife, Vickie) of Rockwall and Tim Dudley (and wife, Sharon) of Houston; and her sisters, Barbara Shadwick (and husband, Tommy) of Odessa and Judy Ramirez (and husband, Bear) of Levelland.
A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 10, at Hudman Funeral Home in post, from 12 until 7:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 11, at First Baptist Church in Post, at 10:00 AM.
