Obituary

In remembrance of Vickie Dee Cotter

Vickie was born on May 9, 1951, to William Thomas "Bill" Gill and Allene Adele Gill. She and her twin brother, Ricky Lee Gill, were born on the Bird Ranch in Post, Texas. Together they grew up surrounded by their siblings Archie, Evelyn, and Louis Ann. Family was always at the center of her life from the very beginning.

Vickie lived a life full of love, strength, and dedication to her family.

Vickie was first married to Tom Porter, and together they had three children: Mark, Eddie, and Talena. Later she married Patrick Cotter, and together they had three daughters: Serena Allene, Natasha and Michelle.

Serena was born in January of 1988, stillborn but still deeply loved and forever part of our family.

Vickie was preceded in death by many people she loved dearly:

her twin brother Ricky Lee Gill,

her sister Evelyn Vines,

her son-in-law Aaron Johnson,

her parents Allene Adele and William "Bill" Thomas Gill,

her son Eddie William Porter,

and her daughter Serena Allene Cotter.

We take comfort in believing that they are all together again, celebrating and welcoming her home.

Vickie survived by her brother Archie Gill, her children Mark Porter, Talena Johnson, Michelle Cotter, and myself and my husband Billy.

Vickie also leaves behind many grandchildren:

Victoria Fierro and her wife Olivia Fierro,

Kanen Cole Porter,

Keizer Allen Porter,

Lindsey Rose Meier Johnson,

William "Will" Meier Johnson,

Megan Johnson,

Daniel Johnson and his wife Angie Johnson,

William "Tommy" Gallagher,

and Erin Adel Gallagher.

Vickie was also blessed to meet her first great-grandbaby, Nash, who brought her so much joy. Also many more children she adopted as her own. She is also survived by multiple nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. And she leaves behind something else she loved just as much the many four-legged furry grandchildren that she adored with her whole heart.

Vickie had a way of making people feel like family. She was known for adopting kids who needed a little extra love, guidance, or sometimes just a kick in the rear end to help them get on the right path. She believed that family wasn't only who you were born to it was who you cared for and took care of.

Vickie worked hard her entire life to provide forher family. For more than 20 years she worked as a cook at Holly's Drive-In. She showed us what dedication and hard work looked like, always making sure her family was secure and had what we needed.

Some simple things brought her joy.

Her favorite color was blue.

Her favorite meal was a Sonic burger no cheese, no pickles, just mayo and mustard or a pizza with hamburger on it.

Vickie loved watching I Love Lucy, and she shared that love with her daughters. It was something simple that always brought laughter and good memories. She also loved watching Days of Our Lives and following the stories and characters for many years.

Even though she can't hold our hands the way she used to, the love she gave us is still here. It lives in the lessons she taught us, the strength she showed us, and the family she built.

thank you for your love, your strength, and the life you gave all of us.

We love you.

We miss you.

And we will carry you with us every day of our lives.
