Wanda Jo
Cox
August 2, 1919 – June 1, 2019
Wanda Jo Moore Cox, 99, died on June 1, 2019 in San Antonio, Tx, two months before her 100th Birthday.
Born on August 2, 1919, in Ralls, Tx to Joseph and Martha Fisher Moore. Wanda spent her childhood helping her parents and brother maintain their cotton farms near Ralls where they also ran a rural general store. After graduating from Ralls High School, Wanda moved to Lubbock where she worked as a typist, bookkeeper and attended Texas Tech. In Lubbock, she met Robert Cox, a lifelong Post resident. They married on August 31, 1940 in the parsonage of the First Baptist Church in Lubbock.
Because of job opportunities, and later, because of World War II, Robert and Wanda moved to Corpus Christi, Tx; Greeley, Co.; and Herington, Ks. It was in Kansas in 1945 that they became the parents of their daughter, Lin Alyn. Later that same year, they returned to Post where they resided for over sixty years. During that time, Wanda worked as a bookkeeper at Connell Chevrolet and as a church secretary, as well as helping with the daily operations at Cox Lumber Company. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Post.
During their early retirement years, Wanda and Robert spent much time at their property in the Hill Country at Leakey, Tx where they enjoyed the river and the company of good friends and neighbors. In order to be nearer their family, they later moved to the San Antonio area where Wanda resided until her death.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, Joe and Martha Moore, and her brother, Lloyd Moore. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Lin Alyn and Wendell Duncan of San Antonio; her grandsons, Lane (Lee) of Dallas, Bart (Andi) of Houston, four great grandchildren, and 13 nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 6 at 10:00AM in the first Presbyterian Church. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 5 from 6-7:30PM at Hudman Funeral Home. Following Interment at Terrace Cemetery a reception will be held at the church.
Those who wish are invited to send memorials to Week of Compassion Offering, First Christian Church, Box 938, Post, Texas 79356 or the Post Animal Refuge Center; Box 13, Post, Texas 79356.
